Inception...Again

A friend treated my daughter and I to the movie, Inception tonight. This was my second time and it was as wild a ride as the first. In fact, I missed so many pieces the first time, I found myself thinking a number of times, "Oh that's how it happened"!

When we came out of the theatre, I was quite disoriented. It was like I just waking up in a different room and had to remember what day it was and whose house I slept at. The hall of the theatre looked so different and all of a sudden Teresa said, "Those stairs were not there when we came in." She didn't know it, but I didn't see any stairs at all! All I said was, "Man, I feel like I'm in a dream". Both my friend and Teresa agreed.

Outside, it felt different. When we went into the theatre, it was warm and when we came out, it was like winter was just around the corner. I started up my car and drove to the exit, only I hit a dead end. Now at this point, you have to know the movie is about getting lost in elaborate dream mazes. I said, "There's no road here, just a dead end - and as I said it I got excited, "JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIE". Teresa said, "Oh my - turn right. And I did and there was a little road, that led to a more main road, but both had stuff in the way which we had to drive around.

Ellen Page was one of the actors in the movie who was the architect for building the dreams. My daughter began to talk about how I had constructed a maze and when I looked at her, she looked exactly like Ellen Page. It was uncanny.

All the way home we talked about how we could feel, sometimes see that our waking dream (the state we have believed is our real world) is crumbling - just like in the movie. Many little happenings that aren't "normal" to what our past world felt like are happening. But then we throw in some more convincing details that make it all look real again, and then we forget.

So what wakes us up?
I had a terrific insight about that this morning that I would like to share in my next post.

Here is a different trailer than the one I posted last time:
