It was very interesting for me as I was aware the whole time that this is what the Human Game feels like. It was funny, because both Ryan and I were irritated that too many people were in the maze and that some brought their dogs, which really added the stress for me.
Fascinating was that the maze was divided into two parts. On a sign board outside it actually said, "Phase 1 and Phase 2". Wow, all the amazing clues I left for myself.
After doing quite well and then getting lost, Ryan began to get anxious. He voiced his frustration and mumbled something about this not being fun anymore now that we were lost. Olivia immediately responded: "Daddy, that's the point. You are supposed to get lost. It's a maze!"
The voice of God coming from the 4 year old. She knew before she entered that we were "supposed" to get lost. He chuckled and then had an idea. He pulled out his Iphone and pulled up the arial view of the maze and he saw where we were and the quickest way out. He breathed a big sigh of relief. I wanted to play Phase 2 of the game, but he had had enough!
It was such a neat experience to be immersed in 10 foot high corn and not being able to see where the next turn led. I could also feel some anxiety about wandering for hours before finding our way out. So it was a perfect simulation within my simulation to describe this awesome game I am now playing on a much grander scale.
Then today, I got this letter from Mike Dooley:
I know you already know this, but Marilyn, the only way one can find their way is to first be lost. To make it big, start out small. To fall in love, first feel none. Yet, when such wishes are granted and the dreamers suddenly find themselves lost, small, and alone, you should hear the "expletives"!
So, look at it like this: Any such feelings are simply a sign that you've made a really, really big and daring "wish," and that its manifestation has already begun.
Foxy, clever, wry
The UniverseI don't quite agree with what he says the feelings mean. I would change it to, "Any such feelings are simply clues you've left yourself to remind you of where you hid your power, so that you can play a really, really big and daring part in your game."
